What Are Injectable Fillers?

Collagen is a natural part of our skin’s support structure. However, as we age, collagen begins to thin and the effects of aging, such as wrinkles and skin laxity, begin to show on the face. At our Falls Church MedSpa, injectable fillers are used to replenish the skin’s collagen layer, causing the wrinkles and lines to smooth out immediately.

What To Expect During the Vitalia Treatment

We ask that you avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E prior to having a treatment as these products may increase bruising or bleeding at or near the injection site. After discussing your goals with the Nurse, the area may be numbed. The filelr injection is then used in the specific area. Results are immediate. Side effects may include bruising or swelling. Most side effects resolve within a few hours to a few days. The treatment generally takes about 45 minutes, and you may resume normal activities immediately after treatment.

Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus

Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus are hylauronic gels.  Ultra Plus is a higher concentration of hylauronic for areas that need more correction and volume such as in deeper folds and severe wrinkles. Juvederm Ultra is specifically made for more delicate areas such as lip augmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, and folds. Juvederm injectable gel replaces the Hylauronic Acid that your skin loses as you age. Since Hylauronic Acids are naturally produced by the body, overtime injectable gels made of Hylauronic Acid are broken down and eliminated by the body, unlike permanent fillers. Juvederm is FDA-approved to last up to a year.

Restylane and Perlane

Restylane and Perlane, also hylauronic gels, are used in our Spa, which is just east of Tyson’s Corner. Perlane has a larger particle size and is used for deeper wrinkles. Since Hylauronic Acids are naturally produced by the body, overtime injectable gels made of Hylauronic Acid are broken down and eliminated by the body, unlike permanent fillers. Both products are FDA-approved to last up to a year.

Radiesse

Radiesse wrinkle filler provides immediate volume to smooth out the signs of aging. It continues to work with your body by stimulating your own natural collagen production. Radiesse may be used anywhere in the face except for the lips.

Which Injectable Filler Is Right for Me?
